Peter Pennoyer is an architect and author. He is principal of the eponymous thirty-member firm with a national practice in classical and traditional architecture. Born and raised in New York City, he earned both his BA and Masters of Architecture at Columbia University.
Peter Pennoyer Architects has designed houses and historic renovations across America. The firm has also had many institutional and commercial commissions, most involving significant historic buildings. Projects have been widely featured in newspapers, books and periodicals including The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Design Times, and House & Garden.
With co-author Anne Walker, Pennoyer has written three books: The Architecture of Delano & Aldrich, The Architecture of Warren & Wetmore, and The Architecture of Grosvenor Atterbury (W.W. Norton, Fall 2009). He has also contributed articles and reviews to Architectural Digest, Perspectives on Architecture, Period Homes and the New-York Journal of American History.
Pennoyer has served as chairman of scholarship committees at the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Sir John Soane’s Museum Foundation. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of The Morgan Library & Museum, The Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America, and the Mrs. Giles Whiting Foundation.
